Order of Deaconesses in England - 1947-1975

The Board of Studies was formed by a resolution of the Management Committee of Deaconess House on 8 August 1974 . The purpose of the board was to prepare a submission for the Australian College of Theology for a Diploma of Ministry. The Board comprised Rev S. Giltrap (Chairman), Deaconesses M. Andrews, J. Lawrence and M. Rodgers, Mrs I. Hall and Rev. G. Glassock. The members met Dr D.B. Knox and Dr W. Dumbrell to discuss matters that arose in conjunction with Moore College. It appears that the role of the Board ceased after three meetings.

The series consists of fragments of minutes and correspondence and circulars distributed to members of the Deaconess Appointments Board and through the Head Deaconess to Deaconesses working in the Diocese of Sydney.

The letters concern Deaconess appointments, arrangements for admissions/ordinations, chaplaincy arrangements and other diocesan matters that need to be made known to deaconesses. Also three booklets including the appointments of the Head Deaconess

The series consists of fragments only. These include agendas, notices of meetings and annual reports.

The item contains letters of a mostly ephemeral nature (mainly financial distributions).
