History
The Australian Council of Churches was formed out of the Australian Committee of the World Council of Churches. In 1994 the name was changed to the National Council of Churches in Australia. Initially a Protestant body, the Eastern and Oriental Orthodox Churches joined in the 1960s, and the Catholic Church became a full member in 1994. There are currently 19 member churches, and the Council works with state ecumenical councils. http://www.ncca.org.au/
