The Children's Special Service Mission was begun in London in 1867 by Thomas 'Pious' Hughes and Josiah Spiers. It became an international movement which notably ran beach missions. It is now known as Scripture Union.

The Women's Fellowship was formed as a group of wives and fiancees of Moore College students, for mutual encouragement and fellowship, and to hear speakers who can help with spiritual development and equip as ministry wives. From 1995 they have published Magnolia magazine, usually twice a year.

Established in 1889 at Thomas Moore's property at Liverpool. The trustees of Moore College proposed to found a grammar school, when Moore Theological College was being moved to Newtown. The Bishop of Sydney was the President of the School Council, which also included the lay trustee of Moore College, the Principal of Moore College, the Rector of Liverpool, and two laymen of St Luke's Parish, Liverpool. Th buildings at Liverpool were transferred to the Grammar School with the exception of the chapel. The school opened with between 30 and 40 day students and boarders in July 1889. Mr W. Basil Worsfold M.A. was the Headmaster, followed by Mr R.F. Irvine. In December 1892 Mr Irvine informed the trustees that he could not meet the school's costs, and he resigned in 1893. The buildings were placed into the charge of a caretaker, and the rents from the farm lands were sent to the College in Newtown.

The Council of Churches in NSW first met in 1924 as a group of representatives of major denominations: Church of England, Presbyterian, Methodist, Congregational, Baptist, Church of Christ, Society of Friends and Salvation Army. The Council was incorporated in 1998 to be the successor of the Council of Churches in NSW (an unincorporated association).

The foundation stone of St Peter’s Anglican Church was laid on the 1st of May 1866 on the corner of Anne and Bourke streets at Woolloomooloo (now Darlinghurst) by the Governor Sir John Young (1807-1876) and was officially opened on the 25th of July 1867 by the Bishop of Sydney, Frederic Barker. In 1986 the parish was merged with St John's Darlinghurst to form the Parish of East Sydney. The church was deconsecrated in 1993 and the building purchased by Sydney Church of England Girls' Grammar School (SCEGGS) Darlinghurst.

Radio 2CH Pty Ltd was formed in 1989 between the NSW Council of Churches Broadcasters (26%) and Amalgamated Wireless Australasia (74%). In 1995 CCB sold its shares in 2CH to Radio Superhighway Pty Ltd, now known as Macquarie Radio Network. In 2011, a Deed of Trust was executed between the NSW Council of Churches and CCB, creating a Broadcasting Committee which integrates the broadcasting activities of the two bodies. CCB and the Broadcasting Committee meet conjointly.
In 2015 the Macquarie Radio Network merged with the Fairfax Radio network to form the Macquarie Media Network, which required them to divest themselves of 2CH. In January 2017, 2CH was sold to a consortium of Oceania Capital Partners, Glenn Wheatley and John Williams. In June 2020, it was sold to Pacific Star Network, who switched it to a DAB+ only channel, before it went off air in June 2022.

In 1944 the station facilities were purchased by Amalgamated Wireless (Australasia). As a result of changes to the Broadcasting and Television Act 1969, in 1970 the NSW Council of Churches Broadcasting Company was established and became the licensee of 2CH. In 1989 a new company, Council of Churches Broadcasters Pty Ltd was established, and Radio 2CH Pty Ltd was also established to hold the broadcasting license and operate the station. The Mission Zone Fund was founded in 1902 by R.B.S. Hammond, to support the welfare of people in the inner city area. It was merged into the Anglican Home Mission Society (now Anglicare) in 1911.

The Mothers' Union was founded in 1876 in England by Mary Sumner, a vicar's wife who organised a group of mothers to help each other in their responsibilities as wives and mothers, and understand the significance of the sacrament of baptism and the teaching of faith to their children. It became a diocesan organization in 1885 within the diocese of Winchester, and quickly spread overseas. It was the first women's organisation to be granted a Royal Charter in 1926. The Mothers' Union in Australia was first formed in 1892 by Mrs L'Oste, wife of the Rector of Christ Church, Cullenswood, Tasmania. Diocesan branches in Sydney and Melbourne were set up in 1896. Australia was the first overseas province to be granted autonomy on 27th November 1974. The Patron is Her Majesty the Queen, and the Patron in Chief is the Governor-General.The Mothers' Union in Australia is governed by the Australian Council which meets once every eighteen months, and consists of the Executive Council, the Diocesan Presidents and Life Vice Presidents. The Executive Council is the working body and meets annually. The Mothers' Union publishes Mia Mia magazine, previously known as Mothers in Australia and then Mothers in Australia and New Zealand. The departments include Caritas, Promotion & Development, Education, Mia Mia, Overseas and Northern Outreach, Prayer and Spirituality, Publication and Social Responsibility.
