Papers relating to the Church of England migration scheme

The Church of England Migration Council brought out young women from the United Kingdom, and placed them under the care of Deaconess House. The young women were then placed in domestic service jobs in households. Deaconess Ruby Short took out a licence for the scheme under the Industrial Arbitration Act on 9th October 1939. Includes lists of 'girl domestics' with arrival dates, ship name and name of employer or caretaker. Also includes lists of Australians requesting domestics, and which type.
