Isaiah 11:6-9

'The wolf also shall dwell with the lamb...' Theme: Judgement. Considers the time when God's kingdom will be extended over all earth and peace shall reign. Discusses the charge that will be wrought in main, in the latter days, and the means by which it is to be affected. Concludes with an address to those who believe and their security.

Isaiah 25:6-8

And in this mountain shall the Lord of hosts make unto all people a feast...'Theme: The Lord's Salvation. Endeavours to illustrate this Gospel as it affords a feast to the hungry, light to the blind and victory to the oppressed. Concludes with the question of what will happen to those who do not begin to reconcile now.

Isaiah 45:23-25

Watermark 1809. 'I have sworn by myself...that unto me every knee shall bow every tongue shall swear...' Theme: Redemption. To illustrate this oath considers its subject matter and accomplishment. Encourages subjects of the Redeemer's kingdom to rejoice.

Isaiah 55:6

'Seek ye the Lord while he may be found, call ye upon him while he is near.' Theme: Insensibility toward eternal things. Observes there is reason to fear that God is absent for most people and we cannot hope to find God if we do not seek him. Urges those who are 'afflicted' and those who are advanced in life to seek God.

'Seek ye the Lord while he may be found, call ye upon him while he is near.' Theme: Seeking of God. An extension of no. 70 with an addition considering that there is a time coming when God will not be found so we should seek him now. Applies this to the young and the afflicted.

Jeremiah 28:16

'...this year thou shalt die, because thou hast taught rebellion against the Lord. Theme: The approachment of death and judgement. Shows that we must all die and nothing can secure us against death. Concludes with an entreaty for those who do not believe in the Sentence of Death to reflect upon their ruined state.

Jeremiah 6:16

'Thus saith the Lord, Stand ye in the ways, and see, and ask for the old paths, where is the good way, and walk therein, and ye shall find rest for your souls. But they said, We will not walk therein.' Theme: Duty to religion. Determines what is the old and good way spoken of, our duty in respecting it and the encouragement given to perform this duty. Concludes with a warning not to neglect religion because time is short.

Jeremiah 8:20-21

'The harvest is past, the summer is ended, and we are not saved...' Theme: Death and Judgement. Establishes who they are that are not saved and the misery of their State. Concludes with a warning to prepare for the kingdom of God.

Job 19:25-27

Watermark 1813. 'For I know that my redeemer liveth, and that he shall stand at the latter day upon the earth.' Theme: Christ's redemption of the congregation. Considers Christ's confession and the lessons to be learned from it. Observes that the knowledge of Christ will provide hope, support and comfort.

Job 27:6

Watermark 1824. '...My heart shall not reproach me so long as I live.' Theme: Conscience. Considers the proper office of conscience, our duty to our conscience, and shows how we should obey what it dictates. Concludes with the cautions that we should guard against an evil, guilty, confident and unfeeling conscience.
