Matthew 15:28

'Then Jesus answered and said unto her, O woman, great is thy faith: be it unto thee even as thou wilt. And her daughter was made whole from that very hour.' Theme: Faith and Prayer. Describes the disposition and conduct of this distressed 'heathen', her love and faith, and Jesus behaviour toward her. Concludes with an exposition on prayer and faith.

Matthew 18:32-35 and Luke 16:8

(1) Matthew 18:32-35 'Then his lord, after that he had called him, said unto him, O thou wicked servant, I forgave thou all that left...' Theme: Duty of forgiveness. Considers the extent, reasonableness and necessity of Christian forgiveness.
(2) Luke 16:8' And the lord commended the unjust steward because he had done wisely; for the children of this world are in their generation wiser than the children of light.' Theme: Belief. Considers the wisdom of the unjust steward and the folly of God's children. Advises the congregation to choose God as Lord and Master.

Matthew 21:28-31

Watermark 1815. 'But what think ye? A certain man had two sons, and he came to the first and said, son, go work in my vineyard...' Theme: Repentance. Compares the conduct of the two sons according to the parable. Concludes that it is not always the most spiritual that will go to heaven, the character of man being determined by their actions and the most declared rebel, if he repents, shall be accepted by God

Matthew 23:37

'O Jerusalem, Jerusalem, thou that killest the prophets, and stonest them which are sent unto thee, how often would I have gathered thy children together, even as a hen gathereth her chickens under her wings, and ye would not!' Theme: God's treatment of the faithful. Considers Christ's compassion and warning against sin by his Providence and words, and the obstinancy of man in accepting false refuges and preferring temporal and carnal pleasures to spiritual and eternal ones. Exhorts the congregation to accept Christ before it is too late.

Matthew 25:33-36

'...Then shall the king say unto them on his right hand, come, ye blessed of my Father, inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world...' Theme: Eternity. Consideration and explanation of the happiness experienced with the knowledge that a future state exists, and the rewards and punishments to be experienced in that State. Concludes with an exhortation on the experiences of sinners and believers after death.

Matthew 25:35-40

'For I was enhungred, and ye gave me meat...' Theme: Charity. Explains the need to take into account principles, conduct and activity in doing good. Considers the proper exercises of Christian Benevolence, their acceptability to Jesus and their importance to ourselves. Urges the congregation to show benevolence and compassion to a charity collection for the Benevolent Asylum.

Matthew 26:63-66

'...And the High Priest answered and said unto him, I adjure thee by the living God, that thou tell us whether thou be the Christ, the son of God. 'Theme: Sacrifice of Jesus. Considers the Jewish Governors prejudice, the confession and sentence of Christ. Attends to the history in a way of spiritual improvement. Urges the congregation to consider what Christ suffered and accept him because of this.
