This collection relates to the history of the Church of England in South Africa, and consists of photocopies of correspondence, minutes and reports, publications and newspaper articles. It was collected by Peter James Spartalis for his MTh thesis “From Silvertrees to Lambeth: The Australian connection and the Church of England in South Africa 1933-1948” awarded by the Australian College of Theology in 1990. A copy of the thesis is available for in-library use only in the Moore College Library.

One A3 page photocopy of pages 2-3 from a "List of all Grants and Leases of Land registered in the Colonial Secretary's Office between the 28lh day of January 1788 and the 31st day of December 1809", in which is recorded in columns: (i) Grant No.; (ii) Date; (iii) Grantee or Lessee; (iv) Situation; (v) Extent in Acres & Roods; (vi) Term of Years; (vii) Amount of Quit Rent; (viii) By Whom Granted; (ix) Registration Book "A" & Page; (x) Remarks. Crown Grant No. 4 to Philip Schaffer was made on 22 February 1792, on the "north side of the Creek leading to Parramatta", area 140 Acres, Quit Rent being one shilling for every 50 acres, commencing after 5 years; registered in Book 1/A, page 2.

Broughton's engagements including officiation of coming ordination ceremony, trip to Hunters Hill to hold confirmation and proposed Diocesan meeting. Gives an account of the Ball at Government House.

Expresses hope that Boydell's efforts concerning the church will be successful. Reports on news concerning friends and family and gives account of meeting with Lady Gipps. Informs Boydell that her father read out a protest in church, an account of which is in the newspaper. Reports on the gathering of the clergy and their family at St. James and George Vidal's expected visit.
