Romans 6:23

Watermark 1818. 'For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.' Theme: The Gift of Eternal Life or distribution of rewards and punishments. Considers man's descent and God's mercy. Concludes that sin results in a death of everlasting misery and the godly life one of everlasting happiness. 10 pp., 2pp. appear to be a continuation of the sermon, 3pp. are a repetition of the beginning of this sermon, possibly added later.

Romans 8:13

Watermark 1809. 'For if ye live after the flesh, ye shall die: but if ye live through the spirit do mortify the deeds of the body, ye shall live.' Theme: Eternal Life. Describes the importance in knowing out. State before God and what it will be in the eternal world. Considers the 'truths' as a carnal love terminating in everlasting misery and a life of mortification and self-denial terminating in everlasting happiness. Concludes with a recommendation to improve the present state.

Romans 8:26

Likewise the Spirit also helpeth our infirmities...' Theme: Spirit of God. Refers to the Agency of the Spirit of God as a means of confirming and establishing the soul. Considers the agency of the Spirit in seasons of suffering and seasons of prayer.

Romans 8:6

'For to be carnally minded is death; but to be spiritually minded is life and peace.' Theme: Spirituality vs Carnality. Discusses the difference between the carnal and spiritual mind by considering their operations and effects. Concludes with an address to both the carnal and spiritual persons.

Watermark 1830. Fragment of a sermon. Refers to the survivors belonging to a ship that sank in the harbour. Appeals for contributions to administer relief.

Watermark 1798. 'And I will pour upon the house of David, the spirit of grace and of supplications...'Discusses the nature of evangelical repentance and the means by which it can be attained in relation to the text. Concludes that those who have repented should grow closer to God.
