William Hotston was born in Sussex, and studied at Moore College from 1879-1881. He was ordained in Bathurst in 1889 and served in many churches around Bathurst and Sydney.

Archdall, Mervyn

Mervyn Archdall was born in Clonmel, Ireland, and studied at Corpus Christi College Cambridge. He married Martha Karow in 1882 and they sailed to Sydney that same year. He served at St Mary's Balmain and in 1902 became Canon of St Andrew's Cathedral. He promoted deaconesses and founded 'Bethany' for their training in 1891. In 1908 he was appointed Rector of St Stephen's Penrith and served there until his retirement in 1913. He died of cardiac disease in 1917. http://adb.anu.edu.au/biography/archdall-mervyn-5044

The foundation stone for St. Barnabas' Church, Broadway was laid on August 28, 1858, and opened for services in December of that year. The first four incumbents were:
Reverend T. Smith (1858-1873)
Reverend J. Barnier (1873-1889)
Reverend W. Martin (1889-1901) and
Reverend W. Charlton (1909-1918)
The collection contains a variety of material documenting some of the social activities associated with the church during the early part of the 20th Century.
