The Foundation stone was laid by Reverend John Charles Wright D.D. Archbishop of Sydney on 22 April 1911. The Minister at the time, the Reverend Andrew Colvin, was a former post-ordination student at Moore College in 1906. His Ministry at St. John's ended in 1918.
St Stephen's Church, Kellyville
The NSW Temperance Alliance was founded in 1876 by Rev F.B. Boyce, Rector of Holy Trinity, Orange. Initially called The Alliance, they campaigned for Sunday closing of hotels, temperance lessons in schools and local option. When Rev Boyce moved to Sydney, he continued the work under the name Local Option League, then the Prohibition League, and finally the NSW Temperance Alliance. The patron was the Archbishop of Sydney, and the executive committee included representatives from the major Protestant denominations, as well as the Business Women's Temperance League, the Independent Order of Rechabites and the Women's Christian Temperance Union. Archdeacon R.B.S. Hammond was also a prominent member and President 1928-1931. It is now known as the Drug Awareness Council.
Department of External Studies
The Department of External Studies was set up in order to administer the Preliminary Theological Certificate Course, for laypeople who wanted to study a short theological course by correspondence. Evening courses and the Diploma of Biblical Studies were also offered. The department also coordinated the annual School of Theology seminars. In 2016 the operations of Moore Distance were taken over by the Registrar's Department.
Moore College Library Committee
IMPACT Books was established in order to provide student textbooks and general Christian literature for sale. The name was changed to Moore Books in 1999. In 2016 the Governing Board decided that the College would cease operating a bookshop.
The Selection Committee interviews prospective students and reviews their applications for admission.
Moore College Women's Auxiliary
The Womens' Auxiliary included student and faculty wives who co-ordinated promotional and fundraising activities. The name was changed to the Prayer and Support Group in 1985.
Anglican Church of Australia Diocese of Sydney
The Diocese of Australia was divided into four dioceses: Sydney, Adelaide, Newcastle and Melbourne, by letters patent in 1847. The diocese has been led by an archbishop since 1897.
