Malcolm Muggeridge was a British journalist and author.

Originally part of the Gerringong Ward of the Municipality of Kiama. In 1948 it was merged with surrounding municipalities to form the Shoalhaven Shire Council. Some documents record the name as Broughton Vale. It is likely that the area was named after an Aboriginal guide named after the Bishop of Australia W.G. Broughton, by local pastoralist Alexander Berry.

Daniel Murphy was born in Cork and attended Moore College between 1880-1882. He was ordained priest in 1883. From 1884-1909 he was Rector of St Stephen's North Willoughby (Cable Clerical Index)

The Australian Council of Churches was formed out of the Australian Committee of the World Council of Churches. In 1994 the name was changed to the National Council of Churches in Australia. Initially a Protestant body, the Eastern and Oriental Orthodox Churches joined in the 1960s, and the Catholic Church became a full member in 1994.
