Provincial Synod of New South Wales
The Provincial Synod of New South Wales was constituted in 1885. It meets every five years, and includes the Bishops of all dioceses within the province, and clerical and lay representatives.
Presbyterian Church of Australia
The Presbyterian Church in Australia was formed shortly after Federation when Presbyterian churches from different states came together. Two-thirds of the churches joined the Uniting Church in 1977. The church is governed by elders, who meet with the minister at a local level at the Kirk Session. The national General Assembly meets every three years. Presbyterianism is part of the Reformed tradition within Protestantism.

The Australian Branch was inaugurated on 1st March 1980. The Prayer Book Society in Australia was formed in 1983, with branches in NSW, South Australia and Victoria with Bishop Lionel Renfrey as patron, a sister society to those in England, Scotland, Canada, U.S.A and South Africa.
