Victorian Auxiliary of the British and Foreign Bible Society

The Auxiliary Bible Society of Australia Felix was formed in 1840 - when the colony of Victoria was established the auxiliary changed their name to the Victorian Auxiliary. The Auxiliary was incorporated in 1965 and changed its name to The Bible Society in Australia (Victoria) in 1977.

The Uniting Church came into being on 22 June 1977, after three denominations – Congregational Union in Australia, the Methodist Church of Australasia, and the Presbyterian Church of Australia – joined together.

United Council for Protestant Action

The inaugural meeting was convened by the Loyal Orange Institution of NSW, and included representatives from the major Protestant denominations and associations. The aim was to organise a common organization to counteract Catholic action or other action by political or sectarian minorities. They were also opposed to Communism. From 1953 onwards they were known as the Protestant Council of NSW. The final meeting was held in 1967, and the Council was dissolved by the executive on 15th December 1974.
