Bruce was born in 1932, and grew up in the Eastern Suburbs. He attended Sydney Grammar School and was part of the fellowship of St Michael's Church Vaucluse. He entered Moore College in 1952, eventually graduating Th.L, Th.Schol, Moore College Diploma, and BD. He was ordained in 1956 and served curacies in Chatswood, Willoughby and Beecroft. Apart from a time in England (1963­-966), he taught at the College full time and part time from 1955 until his death. In 1999 he was made a Visiting Fellow of the College. He also taught classics at Sydney Grammar School.

Gordon Smee studied at the Sydney Conservatorium of Music before studying for the ThL at Moore College, graduating in 1935. He was ordained deacon in 1936 and priest in 1937. From 1936-1939 he was the curate at Mortdale, then in 1939 was appointed assistant minister at St Andrew's Cathedral. Between 1939 and 1943 he was the chaplain to the Children's Court. From 1943-1950 he was Rector of St John's Woolwich, 1950-1952 Rector of St Luke's Liverpool, and 1952-1968 Rector of Holy Trinity Orange. From 1967-1968 he was honorary canon of All Saints Cathedral, Bathurst. He retired in 1968, and then from 1988-1994 he was the honorary curate of St John's Molong.

Ken Short AO was born in Kenya on July 6, 1927. He spent 3 years in the army, including two years as Commander Lieutenant with the Commonwealth Occupying Forces in Japan, from 1946-1948. He studied at Moore College from 1949-1951. He was ordained in 1952 and served in the parishes of Mosman and Pittwater before missionary service in what was then Tanganyika (later Tanzania). On his return, he served as General Secretary of CMS and then had as rector of Vaucluse from 1971-1975. He was consecrated as bishop in 1975 and served as Bishop of Wollongong until 1982, then Bishop of Parramatta from 1982-1989. He was concurrently Bishop to the Australian Defence Force from 1979-1989, and Army Chaplain General from 1979-1981. In 1988 he was appointed an Officer of the Order of Australia. He retired in 1992.

Lance Shilton was born in Elsternwick, Victoria in 1921 and was ordained priest in 1950. He was the incumbent at St Jude's Carlton from 1951-1954, then travelled to London to complete a Bachelor of Divinity at the University of London. From 1957 to 1973 he was Rector of Holy Trinity Church in Adelaide. He was then appointed Dean of Sydney, a post which he held until 1988. He was actively interested in social issues, and wrote numerous newspaper columns and radio broadcasts. He helped to establish the Festival of Light organisation in 1972, now known as Family Voice Australia. In 1985 he was appointed a Member of the Order of Australia.

Frederick James Selwood was born in Martock, Somerset, and married his first wife in Ampthill, Bedfordshire at the age of 24. They had 2 children, Rita (b. 1904) and Kenneth (b. 1910). He served as a missionary in Japan and married his second wife Dorothy on 26th June 1920. They moved to Australia in 1941 and Frederick served as the minister of St Phillip's Church in Cowes, Phillip Island. He also preached at other churches around Melbourne. He died on 4th November 1944 from stomach cancer and is buried in Bald Hills Cemetery.
