Dyer, Alfred John

A.J. Dyer was born in Melbourne and studied at St Columb's Hall Wangaratta. He was ordained by Bishop D'Arcy-Irvine in 1928, after having worked as a lay worker at Groote Eylandt and as the Superintendent of the Roper River Mission from 1922-1925. From 1928-1935 he was the priest superintendent at Oenpelli Mission. He then travelled to Sydney where he worked in various parishes. He was the Acting Chaplain of Lord Howe Island from 1956-1958, and in 1959 was made Acting Chaplain of Norfolk Island. He was living in Austinmer when he died in a motor accident in 1968.

Jensen, Peter F.

Peter Jensen was born in Sydney and completed the Licentiate of Theology at Moore College. He also has an MA from Sydney University, a Bachelor of Divinity from the University of London and in 1979 he completed a PhD from Oxford University. After his ordination in 1970 he served as curate at St Barnabas' Church, Broadway. From 1973-1976 and 1980-1984 he lectured at Moore College. He was Principal of the College from 1985-2001, when he was consecrated Archbishop of Sydney. He held this post until his retirement in 2013. He is the author of 'At the heart of the universe' (1991) and 'The revelation of God' (2002).

Chapman, John Charles

The Rev Canon John Chapman was a preacher and evangelist working within the Anglican Diocese of Sydney. After working as a teacher and studying at Moore College, Chapman was ordained in the Diocese of Armidale in 1957. He worked as a curate in Moree, then was appointed Youth Director for the Diocese in 1960. From 1966 to 1968 he served as Director of Christian Education. He then moved to Sydney where he was appointed Director of the Department of Evangelism, a role he held for more than 25 years. One of his assistants was Phillip Jensen, with whom he conducted university missions. He travelled around the world preaching and teaching, and wrote evangelistic books 'A Fresh Start' (Hodder & Stoughton, 1983) and 'Know and Tell the Gospel' (St Matthias, 1981). He never married and in 1999 the single students' residence at Moore College was named 'John Chapman House' in his honour. The John Chapman Foundation was formed in 2012, as the funding arm of the Diocese of Sydney's Evangelism and New Churches department, to raise money for the training of preachers and evangelists. He died of multiple organ failure at the age of 82.

Noel Pollard was lecturer and librarian at Moore College. From 1967-1973 he was Master of New College at the University of New South Wales. He also served as the Sydney Diocesan Archivist.

Marie Robinson (nee Taubman) was the wife of Bishop Donald Robinson. She served as ex officio President of the Mothers' Union Sydney from 1975-1980 and from 1986-1989.
