The Anglican Counselling Centre was constituted in 1963 and incorporated in 1990. The Centre had its origins as the Marriage Guidance Centre, a ministry of St Andrew's Cathedral. In 1963, a council was constituted by ordinance to carry out the work of the Centre. It was integrated with the Sydney Anglican Home Mission Society (now Anglicare) in 2000.

The Australian Branch was inaugurated on 1st March 1980. The Prayer Book Society in Australia was formed in 1983, with branches in NSW, South Australia and Victoria with Bishop Lionel Renfrey as patron, a sister society to those in England, Scotland, Canada, U.S.A and South Africa.

The Inter Varsity Fellowship in Australia formed in 1936 from a network of groups at universities around the country. They had begun to form as a result of Howard Guinness' Australian tours in 1930 and 1933-4.
