Herbert W. Armstrong founded the Radio Church of God in Eugene, Oregon, and broadcast church services. In 1968 it was renamed the Worldwide Church of God. Its key teachings were a rejection of the doctrine of the Trinity and various attempts to predict the date of the second coming of Christ. It also emphasised full immersion baptism. In 2007 its name changed to Grace Communion International.
Department of External Studies
The Department of External Studies was set up in order to administer the Preliminary Theological Certificate Course, for laypeople who wanted to study a short theological course by correspondence. Evening courses and the Diploma of Biblical Studies were also offered. The department also coordinated the annual School of Theology seminars. In 2016 the operations of Moore Distance were taken over by the Registrar's Department.
External Engagement Department
The External Engagement Department was formed when the Marketing Department and the Moore College Foundation were merged.
The Development Office, also known as the Moore College Foundation, manages fundraising, maintains donor and alumni relations, and produces the monthly magazine Moore Matters.
Grace Jones was born Grace Henderson in 1857. She became a Deaconess Nurse but was forced to give up her work due to the deterioration in her hearing. Hoping that a sea voyage might improve her condition she sailed for Australia on the ship 'The Harbinger' in 1887. She had intended to return to England 6 months later but met Nathanial Jones on board ship, subsequently married the young clergyman on 13 Feb.1888 and settled with him in Australia. She bore two children, Maisie and Stephen and survived her husband, who died in 1911.
