Phillip Jensen studied at Moore College from 1967-1970. He became Anglican chaplain to the University of NSW in 1975 and Rector of St Matthias' Centennial Park in 1978. From 1983-1991 he was Chairman of Katoomba Convention Council, then from 2003-2014 he was Dean of Sydney. He established the Ministry Training Strategy and Matthias Media. He currently works with Two Ways Ministries.

Jobling, William Jeffree

W.J. (Bill) Jobling studied at Sydney University and Moore College, and was ordained in 1964. After working at Cranbrook School, he gained a PhD from Sydney University and was appointed to their full time teaching staff. He researched and wrote extensively on Semitic and theological studies, and undertook archaeological expeditions to the Middle East.

Johnstone, John Roderic Lindsay

The son of Samuel Martin Johnstone and his wife Elyne, J.R.L. Johnstone was born September 15th 1914 in Parramatta and baptised at St John's Cathedral. He was educated at the King's School, Moore Theological College and the University of Sydney, where he studied law. He was ordained in 1940 and served in the parishes of Pymble, Mosman, Carlingford and Beecroft. From 1942-1982 he was Rector of St John's Beecroft and Cheltenham. He was also visiting lecturer in church law at Moore College 1948-1964, as well as Canon of St Andrew's Cathderal from 1963.

Johnstone, Samuel Martin

S.M. Johnstone was born in Wicklow, Ireland, and educated in Dublin, London and Belfast. He was ordained in Sydney in 1904. He was General Secretary of the Church Missionary Association from 1910-1911 and then Rector of St John's Parramatta from 1911-1935. In 1926 he became the editor of the Sydney Diocesan Magazine, and from 1936-1949 served as Archdeacon of Sydney. Between 1939 and 1943 he was also honorary organising secretary of the Church of England National Emergency Fund (CENEF). He died in Victoria and is buried in Prospect church cemetery.

Jones, Grace

Grace Jones was born Grace Henderson in 1857. She became a Deaconess Nurse but was forced to give up her work due to the deterioration in her hearing. Hoping that a sea voyage might improve her condition she sailed for Australia on the ship 'The Harbinger' in 1887. She had intended to return to England 6 months later but met Nathanial Jones on board ship, subsequently married the young clergyman on 13 Feb.1888 and settled with him in Australia. She bore two children, Maisie and Stephen and survived her husband, who died in 1911.

J.E. Jones graduated with the Th.L. from Moore College in 1957 and the BD from London University in 1963. He was ordained priest in 1958. He served as curate in Gladesville and Canley Vale. He served in Sabah as a missionary with CMS from 1965-1966, then served as a chaplain with the Royal Australian Navy between 1967 and 1988. From 1988-1999 he was Rector of St Philip's Church, Sydney, then as part time Assistant Minister at St Matthew's Church, Manly. He was awarded the Order of Australia in 1985.
