A proclamation for the encouragement of piety and virtue, and for the preventing and punishing of vice, profaneness, and immorality

Royal proclamation encouraging church-going, and stating the illegality of profane swearing, lewdness, gaming on Sundays, selling or consuming alcohol, chocolate or coffee on Sundays. Instructs ministers to read this proclamation to their congregations at least four times a year.

Text of meeting minute 12th March 1851, Sydney Diocesan Committee for the Societies for Promoting Christian Knowledge and the Propagation of the Gospel in Foreign Parts, expressing opposition to the Roman Catholic Church dividing England into ecclesiastical sees. Reinstates Broughton's assertion that the Bishop of Rome has no authority in the Diocese of Australia.
