Copy of the head and shoulders portrait of Frederic Barker, Bishop of Sydney, painted in 1877 when Barker travelled to England to secure the appointment of the Bishop of North Queensland.

This collection relates to the history of the Church of England in South Africa, and consists of photocopies of correspondence, minutes and reports, publications and newspaper articles. It was collected by Peter James Spartalis for his MTh thesis “From Silvertrees to Lambeth: The Australian connection and the Church of England in South Africa 1933-1948” awarded by the Australian College of Theology in 1990. A copy of the thesis is available for in-library use only in the Moore College Library.

News clippings and ephemera, relating to the 1949 visit to Australia of German Pastor Martin Niemoller, at the invitation of the Open Air Campaigners.

The series includes correspondence between Bishop Moyes and Francis James in his capacity as managing director of 'The Anglican' newspaper. The correspondence also discusses the management of the Anglican Press Ltd., of which Moyes was a shareholder. Also includes correspondence relating to Archbishop H.W.K. Mowll's visit to China in 1956, and discussing how this visit was reported in the Daily Telegraph.
