Philippians 3:10

Watermark 1797. 'That I may know him, and the power of his resurrection, and the fellowship of his sufferings, being made conformable unto his death.' Theme: Redemption. Considers what is meant by the Power of Christ's resurrection and shows that it is desirable to know that power.

Luke 18:6-8

Watermark 1809. And the Lord said, Hear what the unjust judge saith...' Theme: The duty of Prayer and Judgement. Considers what the unjust Judge said and the improvement suggested by way of instruction and Reproof. Concludes by addressing those who live without prayer, those who pray in a formal manner without spirit, those who pray earnestly for a while then become remiss, and those who received 'gravious' [sic] answers.

Isaiah 45:23-25

Watermark 1809. 'I have sworn by myself...that unto me every knee shall bow every tongue shall swear...' Theme: Redemption. To illustrate this oath considers its subject matter and accomplishment. Encourages subjects of the Redeemer's kingdom to rejoice.

Revelation 3:2

June 1815, watermark 1808. 'Be watchful, and strengthen the things which remain, that are ready to die: for I have not found thy works perfect before God.' Theme: Judgement. Discusses when it may be said that the things which remain in use are ready to die and the Apostle's advice to persons in such a state. Concludes with a word to those who have always been faithful to God and those who have no claim at all.

Luke 2:10-11

'And the angel said unto them, Fear not; for behold, I bring you, good tidings of great Joy, which shall be to all people.' Theme: The Celebration of the Birth of Christ. Outlines the events surrounding the birth of Christ with reference to the prophecies leading up to the event. Concludes with a warning to those who gratify their 'carnal lusts' and praise of those who embrace Jesus.

Luke 23:42-43

Unfinished. Watermark 1808. 'And he said unto Jesus, Lord, remember me when thou comest into thy kingdom. And Jesus said unto him, Verily I say unto thee, today shalt thou be with me in Paradise.' Theme: Judgement Day. Considers the 'Thief's Petition' for Christ's mercy and the Lords answer in granting him the petition. Concludes by bringing attention to the approaching 'Day of Reckoning' and its resulting judgement. Outer page is related to the Sabbath, and the congregations 'improper state'. An addition to the above sermon.

St Paul's Epistle

Theme: Objects of Divine favour. Provides a description of types of men i.e. the godly and the ungodly, and their places of destination i.e. heaven or hell. Concludes with an exposition on the blessedness of the Godly.

Micah 7:18-20

'Who is a God like unto thee, that pardoneth iniquity, and passeth by the transgression of the remnant of his heritage? He retaineth not his anger for ever, because he delighteth in mercy...' Theme: Forgiveness. Considers the divine mercy of God towards sinners, in its rise, progress and consummation. Concludes with an exposition on the fate of those who do not believe in God.

Job 34:29

'When he giveth quietness, who then can make trouble? And when he hideth his face, who then can behold him...' Theme: Sinfulness. Considers God as supreme governor of the world and his displeasure against wicked and rebellious People. Compares the peace enjoyed by the godly to the peace possessed by the ungodly. Describes the plight of the wicked and urges them to embrace God.
