Raffel, Kanishka

Kanishka Raffel graduated with a Bachelor of Divinity from Moore College in 1996. He served at St Matthew's Wanniassa from 1996-1999, and then moved to the Diocese of Perth where he served for 16 years (1999-2016) as Rector of St Matthew's Shenton Park. He obtained a Master of Arts in Theology from Moore College in 2010. Raffel was appointed Dean of St Andrew's Cathedral in 2016 and installed in that position on 4 February 2016. Goodhew, Richard Henry

Goodhew was born in Sydney and educated at the University of Wollongong. He was ordained in 1958 and began his ministry with curacies at St Matthew's Bondi and St Bede's Beverly Hills. Later he held incumbencies at St Paul's Carlingford and St Stephen's, Coorparoo. In 1976 he was appointed a canon of St Michael's Cathedral, Wollongong and in 1979 Archdeacon of Wollongong. He was Bishop of Wollongong from 1982 to 1993. In 1993 he was elected Archbishop of Sydney and the Metropolitan of New South Wales, retiring in 2001. Donald W. Howard is the retired minister of St Peter’s Church of England, Sydney, Australia. After experience in agriculture, The Royal Australian Air Force, and journalism, Donald Howard studied Theology at Moore College, Sydney and then served for many years in the pastoral ministry. While at St. Peter’s, his first wife, Diana, died of cancer at the age of forty-six in 1977. After an active preaching ministry since his retirement in 1992, he and his second wife Nan became members of St Andrew’s Cathedral, Sydney.

Equal But Different had its genesis in the 1992 debates about the ordination of women to the priesthood in the Anglican Church of Australia. The founding members of EBD were Patricia Judge, Lesley Hicks, Helen Jensen, Christine Jensen, Pru Selden, Karen Davidson and Marion Gabbott. Others who have been members of our steering group are Louisa Pfitzner, Di Warren, Emma Pfahlert, Tara Stenhouse and Emma Newling.
